TRADITIONAL SESSIONS

The Traditional Session at Bender Photography captures what everyone considers a "classic" yearbook picture.  It is usually a head and shoulder crop against a plain background.  These looks have been popular since yearbooks and school pictures began nearly 100 years ago.  

Many of the local high schools require a traditional portrait for use in their yearbook, including:

  • Stroudsburg High School
  • East Stroudsburg South High School
  • North Warren Regional High School
  • Belvidere High School
  • Notre Dame High School of East Stroudsburg

Often, parents want a few tradition poses of their kids to keep the family tradition alive also.  The parent was photographed that way, the grandparents were photographed that way, so the kid needs to be photographed in a traditional pose to keep the family tradition going.

Our clients frequently have one traditional pose taken in conjunction with other sessions or looks.  We allow that and it permits more variety in your senior pictures.

 

Coordinated colors

This High School Senior chose a lavender shirt for his traditional yearbook look. We matched the background color to his shirt for a unified look.

Black and White

Black and White gives a traditional a timeless old world look. Additionally we chose to give this traditional yearbook picture significant softening, which creates a "Hollywood" look.

Solid Black Background

A black background is another traditional look. And if the subject is wearing black, all of the attention goes to the face and, in this case, the pose.

The Masters Background

Bender Photography offers a wide variety of backgrounds. But the "Masters Backgrounds" are the standards that have been used for generations. Masters backgrounds generally have mottled blues and grays (and often other colors). We create dozens of variations of our masters look by changing the color and intensity of light on the background

Shirt & Tie

Some schools require a shirt and tie for publication in the yearbook. While many of our male clients come dressed in a shirt for this pose, it is nice to know that our studio also has dress shirts and ties if you forgot to bring yours.

The Tux

The tuxedo is a requirement for the yearbook for Stroudsburg High School. Bender Photography has tuxedo's in several sizes seniors to wear. Additionally, we provide an assistant that makes sure all of the elements lay right and look correct.

The Drape

Several high schools, including SHS, ESS, NWRHS, Belvidere, and others require girls to wear a drape for their yearbook picture. Bender Photography excels at getting the drape shot just right.

The Cap & Gown

Though not a requirement for the yearbook, the cap & gown is a tradition with many families in the Poconos area. Bender Photography has numerous gowns in all of the school colors in our area. Additionally we have National Honor Society sashes for those students who have earned that honor.

The Eagle Scout

Young men who work their way up to becoming an Eagle Scout should consider having their portrait taken in their Scout Uniform. Not only is it a classy way to remember your achievements, but the photo is so sharp that every merit badge can be seen clearly.

National Honor Society Sash

Students who have earned the honor of being a member of the National Honor Society will be photographed with the sash if they have us take cap and gown photos.

Contemporary Effects

The impact of traditional portraits can be heightened by any of the hundreds of portrait effects and filters that we routinely employ.

Softening and Tonal Shifts

Frequently we soften images and slightly adjust the color for a more dramatic look. Many of our clients love this look, even on a traditional drape picture!
