Official Sports Pictures!  Why they are so important!

It’s league picture day!  This is the time when your young athlete has his official picture taken, by himself and also with his/her team.

League picture day is a decades old tradition. In fact, team group photos are as old as photography itself.  Nowadays, a team and individual photo are often paired together to create a memory mate.  Many families have memory mates for all of their kids depicting all of their activities.

The act of getting all of the team members together to create a team portrait helps strengthen the team bond. Team pictures are a source of camaraderie and pride amongst young athletes and coaches.

Your son or daughter’s sports pictures become family heirlooms as the kids grow up.  Sometimes they are compared to their parents sports pictures, or even their grandparents sports pictures.  That reinforces a family connection that is an important part of self identity.

Official sports pictures help to preserve memories.  Many people write their teammates names on the back of their memory mates for that time when they might not remember them.

So it is important to keep the tradition alive.  Be sure to show up and participate for your league’s picture day.  You will be continuing a tradition that goes back generations!
